How I Overcame Lower Back Osteoarthritis

Years ago, I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in my lower back. Despite taking medication as prescribed by my doctor, I was in chronic pain and had trouble even sleeping through the night. For years, I feared my active lifestyle had ended.

It wasn’t until I dramatically increased my Omega-3 and magnesium consumption that I was able to experience a pain-free life again. I have returned to teaching yoga classes without limitations and can enjoy my favourite activities once again. About Osteoarthritis

How I Treated My Osteoarthritis

My doctor initially prescribed a daily dosage of 600 mg of ibuprofen and 40 mg of Pantoprazole for pain management and stomach protection from the ibuprofen, respectively. I intended to slow the progression of my osteoarthritis by continuing to practice yoga and maintain a healthy lifestyle. 

Although I was taking lots of medication, I was still in chronic pain that disrupted my sleep and daily routine. Yoga stretches became a painful chore, and my mental health deteriorated from the pain and my inability to do what I loved. 

Eventually, I grew weary with my ineffective medications, so I stopped taking them. I increased my dosage of Omega-3s, but I didn’t feel any pain relief or improvement in my condition. After a year of frustration about my condition and researching possible cures, I decided to increase my Omega-3 intake again.

Gradually, I increased my Omega-3 and magnesium intake to 5 NeoLife Salmon Oil and 2 Magnesium Complex pills per day, and within several days, I had achieved complete pain relief. I have since decreased my dosage to 4 Salmon Oil pills and still live pain-free.

Other Risk Factors

While you can take action to promote healthy joint function, some uncontrollable factors might put you at greater risk of developing osteoarthritis. You are at greater risk if you’re female, over 55, have an inherited tendency or have bone deformities or hemochromatosis.  

It’s helpful to keep your risk profile in mind so you can be on the lookout for early warning signs and keep your joints healthy for longer.
